Oral Cancer Screenings
What are Oral Cancer Screenings?
Oral cancer can form on the tongue, floor or roof of the mouth, along the gums, soft palate, throat, or on the inside of the cheeks. It may appear as a small lesion, a small bump, or an ulcer. An oral cancer screening involves a visual and tactile inspection and may require a biopsy being sent to a lab for confirmation.

Insurance and Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer screenings are included in the cost of a dental hygiene appointment. Each insurance provider and policy is unique and therefore, we can’t tell if hygiene appointments are covered under *your* policy. It’s best to let Dr. Krusich’s insurance coordinator, work with your provider to understand what is and isn’t covered during your checkups. Dr. Krusich accepts most of the major dental insurance companies including Aetna, Cigna, Delta Dental, and Met Life.
Oral cancers can be fast growing and need to be taken seriously. If you suspect any unusual growths, it is best to schedule an appointment – regardless of insurance coverage or not – as soon as possible.
